Asphalt plants, also known as asphalt mixing plants or hot mix plants, produce asphalt, a man-made product that's derived from bitumen, a naturally occurring material:
Asphalt plants
These plants mix hot bitumen with aggregates of different sizes in a mixer to create asphalt mix for paving roads, highways, cities, and parking lots. The process involves heating the aggregates, then mixing them with bitumen and other adhesive substances. The quantity and type of aggregate can vary, and may include a combination of materials with different sizes, as well as fine and coarse particles. Mineral fillers and additives may also be added to the mix.
Bitumen plants
Bitumen plants spray bitumen over a surface, then cover it with aggregate, and finally apply a two-coat seal.
